About Us Historically Trained as a Certified Accountant. Eventually joined the CPAA and IFA when it became necessary to be registered for Money Laundering Regulations.
Has worked as a Management Accountant within various related companies of the Beecham Group for 17 years and then a family retail business, Financial Adviser in the Insurance industry, Part time Lecturer with Cornwall College and now 26 years in our very active accountancy and book-keeping business.
During the training with Students of Cornwall College underwent training for Certificate in Education. This has assisted the accounting business as he has trained 4 students already on day release to qualified AAT standard. 2 have since moved on and completed ACCA while remaining in Accountancy (now based in Cheltenham), and 1 is an Accountant in a multinational retail business based here in Cornwall.
Other interests include property maintenance (more a necessity on an older property from the 19th century) and hard landscaping for extensive flower and vegetable areas.
Is a secretary / treasurer / trustee or director for several charitable organisations and an active committee member of the Cornwall Federation of Small Businesses.
Wife Val assists in the business on admin despite being busy as a producer of fine homemade cakes, preserves of chutney, jam, jelly and marmalade for sale at Local Shows, Country and Farmers Markets.
Mike: The computer wizard! Has been the most recent Trainee having almost completed the AAT course. Has various life skills rarely encountered by the younger person from previous none accounting employment that really assist with the problem solving scenarios. Has been an excellent student for learning and applying the training. Has accepted a great deal of responsibility for the business to allow Clive to take a little more time off for the hobbies.
Other interests After Studies these include regularly training, playing and coaching younger players at his Plymouth Rugby Club.
