About

Previously having trained as a Certified Accountant with the Ambrosia, Bovril and Cavenham Group and later continuing with a subsidiary of Beecham Group the business was started in 1987, initially as a sole proprietor. In 2003 BookBusters became a trading name of Castle Home Loans Limited with a second trading name of Mezzanine Mortgage Services.

The origin of the trading name was to emphasise its reputation for “busting” books or simplifying the systems required when a clients business was started up. This continues to be one of the regular functions for new clients who sometimes initially require paperwork to be caught up and completed for several years for outstanding VAT, Inland Revenue returns, Bank Loan or Mortgage applications or sale of the business.

A passion for teaching First Aid as a Volunteer within St John Ambulance, briefly resulted in lecturing at a local college in various aspects of accounting for small business enterprises and business diversification, but he still continues training at courses for various First Aid qualifications.

Daughter Sarah has nearly completed her courses to become AAT qualified while working part time with BookBusters and previously with a local retail business. She also has training experience as she is a Sergeant Instructor with Devon Army Cadet Force.
